On Saturday I mentioned Ian Thomson’s positive review of Yvonne Cloetta’s In Search of a Beginning (see below), so I should note two other weekend critiques.

McCrum pans the book in the Observer Magazine, while a critic for The Scotsman calls it an “illuminating memoir, written with intelligence and dignity” and “a necessary corrective to the recent crop of bad or mad commentaries” but says “we are still waiting for a compact, scholarly biography of his entire life in a single volume.”
