Alan Marshall reviews Tobias Hill’s The Cryptographer: “The novel begins quite nicely. The writing is often fresh and perceptive, and the action agreeably paced. The whole set-up looks intriguing, and this reader was intrigued. However, as the plot thickens it weakens.” I hope that’s not true, because I’ve read the first 50 pages and I’m not engrossed yet.
