Ethnicity (and unrelated personal ramblings)

Although Laila Lalami of the Moorish Girl site told me very clearly that her column on the rise of ethnic authors and the depressing response to Monica Ali’s Brick Lane would appear at Moby Lives today, I forgot until just now, when I took a second swing by the Old Hag‘s site. (Column appears at the far left of the Moby Lives front page.)

Seriously, I won’t be offended if you all stay away until next Tuesday. It’s what Mr. Maud would advise if he were not too nice (read: afraid) to come right out and say it.

Not only is there the novel excerpt due tomorrow night, you see, but I visit my mother in Asheville this weekend.

The kind folks at Twinkle Twinkle Blah Blah Blah Etc. have offered some timely and helpful suggestions for hiding the stench of liquor on visits home.
