Bissell book on Uzbekistan

For the Moscow Times, Michael Bernstein reviews Tom Bissell’s book about Uzbekistan, concluding in a mostly positive review that the book is an “informed, subtle and humorous take on a country that for decades has been relegated to the back pages of history,” despite Bissell’s clear outsider status and “tendency to weigh down the travelogue with increasingly lengthy history lessons.” (Thanks to Languor Management for leading me to the Moscow Times.)
