Barnes & Noble online to sell through local libraries

Publishers Weekly announced last Friday that BN.com is cutting a deal with public libraries.

Under the deal, library patrons can buy books from BN.com at any library that has technology systems specified by BN.com. In return, the library will receive a percentage of the total sale.

(Link via Bookslut, where Jessa Crispin aptly observes that the deal is brought on “by the funding shortages that libraries are experiencing all over the country,” but that it “still feels very, very gross.”)
