Private: An old woman and some Jack Daniels

It takes something like a granny drinking bourbon and pronouncing, “All my children are going to hell, and my grandchildren, too,” to deter me from my forlorn wanderings through the TMFTML archives.

My own Granny had a sort of recipe involving a quart of bourbon. I’ve yet to try it. (Sorry for trotting that one out again, folks.)

Actually, her father was an early Texan communist with a high tolerance for the booze and the ladies and an aversion to family life, so Gran was kinda turned off to the drink. For herself, anyway. She married two alcoholics – divorced the first, was widowed by the second.

I believe her first husband’s father was imprisoned for killing a man with a hay hook, but that’s a story for another day.
